Some West Virginia University football players have signed name, image, likeness (NIL) contracts with our McDonald’s through the J.W. Ebert Corp. John Ebert, owner and operator of 40 McDonald’s franchises, with Andrew Hendricks, the NIL coordinator for the J.W. Ebert Corp., provided the opportunity to help the athletes.
For the last 15 years, in early April, we've hosted a baseball clinic for kids 8-11 years old. This clinic which is held on a Saturday morning gets high school players to teach the younger players the fundamentals in baseball. Typically we have about 100 participants.

Emily King is one of our graduates of the ACT Prep Class. Emily is the former valedictorian of Philip Barbour High School. She came to the class and helped her get into a six year medical program at Marshall University.
Twenty years ago, we determined the product which the customer enjoyed the most. This was a HOT Basket of Fries. We lobbied the corporation and were allowed to sell it. We sell numerous baskets every day and it's now extended into over 2,000 restaurants, primarily on the East Coast.
We were honored to receive a visit from the CEO of McDonald's, Chris Kempczinski. Along with Chris are his Chief Financial Officer, Kevin Ozan, the President of McDonald's, Joe Erlinger, the President of the East Division, Myra Doria, the Vice President of the Columbus Field Region, Charlie Newberger, and Steve Thatcher. They visited a store in East Fairmont, run by Vanessa Bryant, who showcased her people practices.
The J.W. Ebert Corporation is the proud recipient of the Al Golin Brand Trust Award, which is given to one Owner/Operator organization in the entire system. The Ebert's won the award in 2016. This is the result of a lot of hard working dedication of all of his employees.
We have leadership GRIT classes that we teach to 8th graders. GRIT is about digging deep and making it happen when things aren't going your way. Other speakers have included John Miller, Andrew Hendricks, Brian Jarvis, and head coach of the Boston Celtics, Joe Mazzulla.
Culture is very important in our restaurants. We've determined it can be represented in two actions, how fast and friendly we are. We've come up with two icons to represent our culture, that is the Roadrunner for speed, and a friendly Puppy.
Chris Stevens is a Professor at the University of Notre Dame. He teaches leadership classes each semester. I've been very fortunate to go out there and be a guest lecturer for the last four years. Chris is the former founder of the Keurig coffee system and a former basketball player at the University of Notre Dame.
John Ebert serves on the Board of Directors for GameChangers. GameChangers is a very important committee as we help fight opioid addiction in the state of West Virginia and surrounding areas. We have tremendous sponsors which include both Nick Saban, head coach at the University of Alabama, and State Senator Joe Machin, from West Virginia.
John Ebert's sister, Christine Nevant, also owns McDonald's restaurants in the Asheville/Hickory, North Carolina area. She recently bought five more restaurants and has increased her total to 12. She and her husband, Chris, are heavily involved in running some tremendous restaurants in North Carolina.
